PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

1. Informational Text: The Greek world was made up of countless independent little city-states, many of them divided by war or by the fear of war. There was no central government of Greece and no capital city. But once every four years hostilities were put aside and a special truce was made so that people could go safely to Olympia for the Games. Olympia can be found on Peloponnesus, the second peninsula, not to be confused with Mount Olympus. The Olympic Games were a religious event, sacred to Zeus. According to historical records, the first ancient Olympic Games can be traced back to 776 BCE.
