Product Description

This product contains four lessons or stations (depending on how you choose to set it up) that then inform the project. Students can complete each of the four tasks in any order. The lessons are meant to take 30-40 minutes each and the project will take about a week, depending on how you integrate various subjects. The lessons and project are part of a larger unit on the ancient Lenape of Northeastern United States. The unit departs from outdated approaches to learning about indigenous people from a colonialistic paradigm- separating the people from their landscape and isolating aspects of culture- food, clothing, shelter etc..- and rather seeks to understand the culture within it’s authentic context. For instance, the Lenape culture was seasonally very distinct and so we studied them according to the seasons and what the life of the tribe was across a year during each season. If you are interested in using the larger unit, I would be thrilled to share it!
