This lesson is an inference activity that serves as an excellent introduction and overview of new content dealing with early river valley civilizations in Egypt, Mesopotamia, Indus Valley, and China. It introduces important content vocabulary, requires students to categorize, make inferences (hypotheses), support answers with evidence, read for meaning and compare and contrast. It has been successfully used in an AP World History class, but could just as easily be edited for any non-AP course. It usually requires two to three days to complete.
