This is a good way to work with historical sources while studying the ancient Romans. This document/activity has three pages.
Page one is a brief collection of secondary source material written by modern authors on the Roman legal system.
The second page is a verbatim primary source of authentic Roman laws from an original Latin text (translated into English).
On the third page students answer questions on the secondary sources and try and interpret the primary sources. Leads to a great discussion of laws and the legal system.
