Students review the development of Ancient Rome from foundation to empire by creating a timeline and series of maps. In putting together a timeline of specific buildings, monuments, emperors, and territorial acquisitions, students determine how long it took to Rome to build itself into an empire.
The assignment includes a selection of structures, people, and locations to get students started. The instructions include academic and creative requirements. There are also 9 questions for students to answer about specific Roman features, people, and things like expansion. Depending on your curriculum this may require library research time. The answers to the 9 questions are included as well as a points distribution for the main part of the project.
