If you are interested in the THE FIRST SEMESTER OF WORLD HISTORY this includes everything and more.

- 0. DAILY PLANS: These are my daily plans for what I use. I know there is way more in this bundle than you could possibly teach within 2 weeks.

- 1. CHAPTER PREVIEW SHEETS: I do these with every chapter to allow the students to at least see what we are going to be studying before the unit begins. I have included 2 different versions of the Chapter Preview sheet. The chapter preview sheets take about 20 minutes to do in class.

- 2. THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ROME- This is an 18 slide intro to the contributions of Rome. Please make sure to go over the organization of the government first. It is in PDF format and covers all the major contributions of Rome. Government, Roads, Law, Toast, Calendar, baths, spas, concrete, aqueducts and teeth. This is my introduction to teaching about Rome.

** I added a Roman Law lesson that works out perfect to a follow up to the Roman Contribution lesson.

- 3. RELIGIONS OF ROME- This is a fantastic way to go over the religions of Rome. I love teaching my students about the different roles Jews and Christians played within the Roman Society. I also, love explaining to them why Christianity is where it is within the world today as I take 2 days to explain it. Surprisingly many students do not know much about Christianity today and this is a great way to talk about it with the students.

- 4. BEN HUR CLIP- This is the famous chariot race scene as Charlton Heston is riding the white horse and the Roman is riding the Black horse. Judah ultimately wins in one of the most famous races in film. Someone actually dies in the filming of this as it is pretty darn exciting as my students enjoy watching this every year.

- 5. MANKIND THE STORY OF ALL OF US- This episode deals with the death of Jesus and the Rise of Christianity within Rome. It also deals with Rome as an Empire and some of the great contributions of this civilization. China is brought into the show as the silk road is talked about and discussed as China is important to the expansion of trade and sharing of ideas. The last segment is about Paul and how Christianity rose and became an important part of the empire as they built Constantine. I think this episode fits well within the context of World History either 10th grade or 8th. I use it in my 10th grade classroom and it is perfect.

- 6. ENGINEERING AN EMPIRE VIDEO- The Rise and Fall of the Roman Emperors. I show this in class as it takes 2 days. I feel it gives the students a feel for how the emperors operate and the kinds of contributions that they accomplished in their empires. I have the students write down each empire and the contribution of each empire and why that would be important for us today.

Engineering an Empire

- 7. FALL OF ROME- I go through the the 8 reasons why Rome fell in class and have the students compare it with that of where we are at regarding the US. It is an interesting idea as the students have not usually considered what could take down the United States of America.

- 8. DEMOCRATIC DEVELOPMENTS- This is a slide show I put together to explain how feudalism was a response to the fall of Rome. This also discusses the role of William the Conqueror, Common Law and Henry II, quarrels within the church and the Magna Carta, and a limited monarchy.

This is more of an overview than an in depth study of the above topics. The book we use only dedicates one section to the discussion of all of these topics. I thought this is a good way to connect them with that of Rome.

- 9. THE RISE OF FEUDALISM- This is a great lesson that covers many of the time periods my book skips over.

Here is the list of topics covered: Charlemagne, Vikings, Feudalism, Knights, Crusades, Magna Carta, Black Death Castles.

I have the students take notes on a blank sheet of paper which they fold into 8 squares. Each square must have a picture in it with 5 bullet notes. Sometimes I have the students take a quiz on what they wrote but other times we just go over the highlights in class of what they were reading about.

What goes well with this assignment is a flip book project that I have developed to help students understand this time period. Our book does not cover this but I feel it is important to know as we move through the history.

- 10. CRASH COURSE GUIDES: I have included 5 Crash Course guides with this bundle. Here is the Episodes included: Christianity and Judaism, Roman Empire, Dark Ages, Crusades, and Renaissance.

Here is what is included in this 6 page download:

1. Note Taking Guide for Students: This is essentially a blank section to take notes in.

2. Summary of the Video: A place for the students to write a short summary of what they have watched.

3. Teacher Notes from the: My 1 page of notes.

4. Vocabulary Section: I have chosen 3 words that would be good to have the students look up. I also have them write each of the words in a sentence.

5. Quiz for students / with answers: There is a 7 question quiz with answers from the episode. It can be taken in class or taken home. I think in class would be better.

6. Blank Template for student created quiz: I decided to add this to every Crash Course guide as it works really well with students.

**Also, I highly recommend having the students watch this on .5 speed. If you click the wheel on the bottom of the youtube video you can adjust the speed.

- 11. TEST AND QUIZZES These are the quizzes and test that go with the unit.

- 12. PARAGRAPH PROMPTS – These some good ideas to have your students write about during the course of the year. They are apart of my free download that is in my store.

- 13. FLIPPED CLASSROOM GUIDE - This guide is a great way to teach a PPT/ Keynote. It allows the students to dig into the PPT/ Keynote and discuss with a group and meet with the teacher.

- 14. BONUS- I also added my top 10 favorite youtube videos that are all 3-4 minutes in length so that they may be embedded in the PPT.
