This Ancient Rome resource includes a detailed reading, 4 timeline activities, and a worksheet for reviewing all of Roman history from the Etruscans through the Fall of Rome!

The reading is a concise history of Rome that covers just the most essential information students need to know. This includes:

  • Romulus, Remus, & the myth of Rome's founding
  • The 12 Tables
  • Plebeians & Patricians
  • The Punic Wars
  • Julius Caesar
  • The Pax Romana
  • Christianity
  • The split of the Roman Empire
  • The Fall of Rome

There is both a printable PDF of the reading and an editable Google Doc version included.

Students use the reading to complete either the 2-page guided interactive timeline of Ancient Rome. There are boxes which have students answering questions, drawing pictures, and analyzing the important events over Rome's 1,000 year history.

If you prefer not to use the timeline, there is also a printable PDF worksheet and Google Doc with questions for students to answer based on the reading.

Finally, there are 3 Google Drive timelines students can complete as well. These include 2 "drag-and-drop" timelines of key events in Rome's history and one where students rank their reasons why Rome fell. Each page also includes links to further online learning about Ancient Rome.

This is a really great resource for reviewing all of Roman history or covering a lot of events in a short period. The different options are also great for differentiation and mixing things up with a variety of options for students.
