Students review Ancient Rome, starting with the first 2 consuls and ending with the fall of Rome, by organizing 45 events on a timeline and answering 4 questions. They will then be classified according to a system detailed in the instructions. Students then complete one task for 15 items and a different task for 5 other items. There are arrows in the first two lines of the timeline showing students the direction to fill out the pieces in. Answers are provided where appropriate and this could work for a sub!
Sample timeline items and questions include:
--patrician-plebian marriage allowed
--Latin league defeated
--Hannibal victorious at Cannae
--Caesar crosses the Rubicon
--Caligula becomes emperor
--Boudica leads rebellion against Rome
--Trajan’s Forum and Column built
--Edict of Milan issued
--Vandals sack Rome
--When do you think Rome was at its height and at its lowest point? Would historians agree with you? Why or why not?
--Was Rome better off with kings, dictators, or emperors and why?
