Product Description

This product is a game-changer for your Ancient Civilizations unit. Your students will love this game and ask to play again and again. Best of all, they will learn a lot about the geography and civilizations in the ancient world. This game is my favorite simulation in all my history classes.

The game is based off a realistic simulation of war and conflict between the ancient Mediterranean civilizations. Your students are divided into six teams and will play for Gaul, Rome, Carthage, Greece, Egypt and Persia. The action is displayed and can easily be projected on a beautiful and detailed war map. The map is interactive and will change every round (please see the preview slides)! The map is easy to manipulate and the kids love to see their country conquer a new territory. The map can also indicate the building of defensive walls.

Teams have time for diplomacy and then the action begins. Countries may choose to trade, build-up their military, build a wall, buy land, land attack or sea attack. The game is somewhat like Risk, if you’re familiar with that game.

Each team will be given the detailed game directions, a hard copy war map, and a country strategy sheet. This sheet reveals what their goals are and how they can win the game. The goals are designed to be accurate representations of the real security interests for these nations at this time. For example, ancient Greece sought to control the Bosporus and Carthage sought to control Sicily. When the game is over, the students will also fill out a game review sheet, which is great for a re-cap and discussion.

You will also receive a teacher direction and FAQ sheet. This goes over the ins and outs of the game so that you can feel ready to facilitate the learning effectively. I’ve also included a teacher scoresheet so you can keep up with the action.

The outcomes of the game will be so different class to class. I have a great scoreboard that accompanies the game. It will be exciting to your students and interesting for you!

This product works great with many of the other materials in my store. I also have a WWI simulation, and an Age of Imperialism simulation. I invite you to check it out:
