Lesson: After reading the story, students will work in groups to examine one non-fiction article that you will provide. They will be responsible for creating a poster to teach the class about their topic and how it relates to the story. The articles each deal with topics that surface in the reading (Gangrene, PTSD, The Nevado Del Ruiz Eruption, Lahars, Roman Catholic Funeral Traditions, Hypothermia, Isabele Allende). Durring the presentation, students will record the information they learn on their data collection sheet.
