This is a project for groups of five. The groups become a newspaper publisher during the the time of Andrew Jackson's presidency. Each group member will take on a role at the paper (copy editor, production manager, illustrator or advertising manager) AND write an article for the paper on one of Jackson's policies/actions while president - Spoils System, Kitchen Cabinet, Nullification Crisis, US Bank, or Indian Removal.
The group together writes an opinion column explaining whether Jackson's policies helped the common man.

There is also a 26 slide powerpoint that distills the facts of Jackson’s policies.
A second powerpoint is also included that shows a variety of example front pages of newspapers which will give students ideas on how to layout their group's paper.
