Students read a 2 page passage on President Andrew Jackson's life, analyze 5 images related to his presidency (prompts provided), and answer 8 questions. They also complete 3 creative tasks (including but not limited to creating an advertisement for Jackson from 2 points of view and creating his resume). This would be great for a sub! Answers are not included because each is dependent on student opinion/interpretation.
*the reading passage focuses more on Jackson's pre-presidential life than his presidency*
Sample questions include:
--List and describe the 3 biggest events you think helped propel Jackson to the presidency.
--Describe the sorts of challenges Indian Tribes would have faced in new geographical regions after the passage of the Indian Removal Act.
--How was Jackson the common people’s president? Can someone today be considered the common people’s president, why or why not?
--What do you think is the most important reason today Jackson is remembered and why? Would he agree with you, why or why not? Would historians agree with you, why or why not?
