The Indian Removal Act- Primary Source Analysis
This Common Core aligned lesson guides students through the Indian Removal Act of 1830. In order to ensure understanding, students will have an opportunity to focus on key vocabulary terms before analyzing the text. Upon completion of the vocabulary practice, students will move into dissecting the Indian Removal Act. The lesson is further scaffolded by bolding key words and phrases within the text, providing answers to the guided questions.

Vocabulary/Terms to Know: Students work with three tier vocabulary words prior to analyzing the text. A divided circle map is included for each word.
The Indian Removal Act & Guided Questioning: The full text of Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act is included with guided questions. Answers to each question are bolded throughout the text to guide students in the right direction.
Answer Keys: An answer key is provided for the vocabulary words and guided questioning.
