This activity was originally designed to be a multi-day warm-up activity, but can be used as a stand-alone activity, as well. This document asks students to identify the author, audience, place, time, meaning, and purpose of two of Jackson's State of the Union addresses regarding the Cherokee, and then asks them to complete two open-ended interpretation questions. The rubric for the open-ended questions is included.
