Andrew Jackson is one of the most controversial presidents in United States History. This is a fun project activity where students get the opportunity to assess whether or not Jackson really was "The Common Man's President" by putting him on trial. Students will conduct a mock civil trial to determine if Jackson will retain the right to use this title.
Students will have so much fun and in the process develop research, critical thinking, and historical argumentation skills. Students not only evaluate Jackson's presidency, but also consider how this president's legacy still impacts the United States today!
