This BFU explores the roots of the "rise of the Common Man," looking at the economic causes of the political changes in the USA that made Andrew Jackson possible. It explores topics like the Market Revolution, Cotton Boom, expansion West, property requirements, as well as Jackson's popularity and fight with the National Bank. If you are interested in his expansion of executive power, download the other BFU.
My BFUs (benchmark focused units) are created for my ELL students WIDAs 2-6, but I also use them for remediation with students with lexiles below grade level--my grade level is 11th grade--and as a general review. They are easy to do, so all you need is to print them out and the students pace themselves. BUT THEY ARE LONG!!! They are optimized for our school's Amplify tablet, so I actually don't print them out. You can use them with Ipad or on computers with Adobe Reader. These are targeted to keep students reading and answering questions relevant to the standardized tests, so it works well with kids who don't actually read the material.
Please check out my other products! They are under my US History category. I use them in conjunction with the interactive notebook activities on the TPT seller's page Students of History.
