This bundle includes three products:
This discussion guide contains nine "big" questions that can be used for philosophical class discussions, homework topics, or essay questions. Additionally, the guide contains questions on each chapter that will further the discussion. I enjoy using this guide because I can adapt it to my schedule each year that I use it. It also serves as a study guide for the test. A teacher's guide provides answers for the factual questions.
This test on Frank McCourt's memoir, Angela's Ashes, is composed of 35 multiple-choice questions. The answer key is included. It's as straightforward as that!
Mini-Memoir Writing Assignment
-This document includes a pre-writing activity and a rubric for students to write a short memoir about a childhood memory, inspired by Frank McCourt's memoir Angela's Ashes (although this could be easily adapted to other situations).
-In the prewriting activity, students draw a map of their childhood neighborhood from memory. Then, they look at the map and write a paragraph about a memory that stands out. To flesh out the story, they complete a graphic organizer that requires them to provide sensory details about the experience.
-Finally, students follow the rubric to use their prewriting and write a two to three page memoir about the memory they chose.
This assignment can be adapted to many different novels or writing situations. The most important objective is that students include lots of sensory details to make their memories real to other readers, whether the memories are happy, sad, or somewhere in between.
