This is a small group or classroom lesson plan designed to help students learn about healthy anger management techinques. First, they will acknowledge that anger is a secondary emotion (to another underlying primary emotion) and will identify the primary emotion in something that makes them angry. Next, they will learn about three steps to appropriately managing anger (1- Acknowledging the anger, 2- Identifying the trigger, and 3- Releasing it in a healthy way). And finally, students will practice releasing anger in a safe environment and brainstorm a list of healthy “release” techniques.
NOTE: This is a modification of the lesson plan focusing on anger found in my Grief Group: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/8-week-GRIEF-GROUP-small-group-counseling-for-high-school-middle-school-teens-4703829
