Parallel lines cut by a transversal. In this collaborative activity students find the measures of angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal. Angle relationships include: corresponding, alternate interior, vertical, same-side interior, alternate exterior and supplementary. Students first need to solve equations with x on both sides for equal angle pairs or combine two binomials and set equal to 180 before finding angle measures. Once a pennant is complete, it can be hung along a string in your classroom.
Choose "Fit" and uncheck the box next to "Choose paper source by PDF page size" if you are having trouble printing. I create the files larger to get more detail and this seems to confuse some printers. These settings should do the trick.
Included are 20 pennants, an answer sheet (if you would like students to also record their answers for credit) and an answer key. Each group of students can be given a set of pennants, scissors and either glue, tape or a stapler. Students can be in charge of cutting out the pennants. Groups can compete to see which group can complete the most pennants or your entire class can add pennants to one string as they complete each one. You may also choose to have your students color their pennants to add to your classroom decor.
