When communication is delayed/disordered, behaviors are often elevated. Many students lack protesting inventory and/or words to indicate non-preference. Instead of saying “I feel mad” or “I need a break” or “I don’t like this”, students may exhibit hitting, kicking, crying, screaming, hurting self/others, laying on the floor, refusing to work, hiding, and/or other adverse behaviors.
Use this social story and visual aid set to facilitate increased communication and decreased behaviors in your classroom.
