This is a fun way to help your students understand the importance of animal adaptations. Each student gets a habitat card (jungle gym, inside a refrigerator, inside a straw, etc.) and they have to make a creature who can live in that habitat. This creature has to have adaptations that help it to survive in its habitat. (Example: If the animal had to live in a straw, the creature would need to have a very narrow body or if their creature had to live on a jungle gym, the creature would need to have sticky feet or something to help it hang on.) Students LOVE this activity that gives them a chance to be creative and practice science at the same time!
NOTE: This activity is also included in my product titled "Homey Habitats: All About Animal Environments". If you are looking for more activities about habitats, environments, and animal adaptations, be sure to check out this product!
