As part of your daily reading routine, have your students say each letter sound, followed by the name of the animal that begins with that sound. To help your students develop early phonics skills and prepare them for reading, be sure to use letter sounds (not letter names) and use short vowel sounds (not long vowels). You will be amazed at how quickly your students will learn the phonetic sounds of the letters. Adding music and movement to the process, will ensure that they learn the letters and sounds even quicker! I recommend enlarging this to poster size.
This animal alphabet chart is an excerpt from the FUNetic Farm curriculum by Little Starr Learners.
FUNetic Farm is a phonics-based, early literacy program that helps children learn the sounds of their letters in a FUN and engaging way, using a multi-sensory approach.
