My students LOVE this activity!! First we sort beanie babies together on the carpet, by number of appendages, body parts, etc. When I think students are comfortable with the vocabulary, I give students this table.
They come choose one beanie baby at a time and take it back to their desk. They write the name of the animal and the number of body parts on their paper, then return the animal and choose another one. I let them work for about 20 minutes and they are engaged the whole time.
