PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Your students will love these worksheets and pre written conversations with over 50 Bilingual Vocabulary words formatted for handouts and seat work or as display on your Smart Board or Document Camera; all related to conversations that that they will have about animals of the world.

These materials are designed to coordinate and be a follow up to Spanish 1 animal lessons. Several pages are designed specifically for the second year of Spanish but function well also for the advanced levels either as review or as an introduction of new and more complex structures. The remaining pages of conversation are for more advanced students who have a broader range of prior grammar and will be an essential tool for any of their conversations about pets, favorite animals, regional animals or environmental conservation.

With the purchase of this product you are are receiving an animal characteristic glossary that is formatted into 2 categories of adjectives and present tense verbs describing the physical attributes of a huge variety of animals as well as how they move. You are also receiving an instruction sheet, a fill-in worksheet, Spanish and English glossary, student handouts and 3 sets of conversation questions and open ended example answers for a total of 11 pages of teacher lesson suggestions and materials.

As always, Maestra Mapache has first created these activities and used in her own classroom. Secondly these activities are designed to be adaptable to any of your lesson units. The thematic references are a flexible tool so you the teacher can designate the category or quantity of words that may be needed in your daily lessons. Students will be inspired to learn and internalize words and expressions that are important to them in their discussions.

Textbook vocabulary lists do not have a sufficient quantity or variety of terms that I or my students wanted in order to build and expand ideas. Too often, the activities were for rote memory exercises but, not sufficient for expanding into daily use. For this reason I developed my own glossaries and let the students choose the vocabulary that had meaning beyond the textbook exercise. I know that "scaffolding" is the current terminology, however I like to refer to this educational strategy as "spiraling". The teacher provides the framework and examples of the activity and grammar and the students then reuse and recycle their prior knowledge while continually expanding with more complex structures. Students learn to take a more active role in their own learning and can be successful regardless of their skill level.

Every effort has been made to ensure that all vocabulary is common usage however since language evolves rapidly, please share your feedback and suggestions for newer expressions.
