George Orwell's Animal Farm has so many social and political applications, both to the history of the Soviet Union and our own political landscape today. A Socratic Seminar allows students to articulate their thoughts on today's issues while applying them to Animal Farm. This resource includes the following:
- A list of 22 open-ended, thought-provoking Socratic Seminar questions. Students are asked to prepare detailed answers to 8 questions (but this can be modified by the teacher)
- A detailed rubric, explaining how students are expected to act in the seminar and how they will be assessed for their participation and preparation
- Several procedural notes in both handout and powerpoint form, explaining pre- and post-Seminar expectations.
Each file in this resource is available in both PDF and Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) format.
***Please note: This resource is not designed for use in AP classes.
