This is a PowerPoint about Reptiles. I use this PowerPoint when I teach "Animal Groups". This PowerPoint describes the characteristics of reptiles.
Each PowerPoint has slides at the end that allows the students to guess the biggest reptile, fastest reptile, slowest reptile, etc. The kids absolutely love this part!
With this PowerPoint (and all of my animal group PowerPoints) I use my "Animal Group Packet" which is uploaded on TPT. This packet goes great with the PowerPoints I have created. (I just make double sided copies of the packet). The students write the 3 facts that are animated to pop up one at a time on each page of the packet. For this PowerPoint, students would write the 3 facts for the "Reptile" page.
We complete the animal group packet as we go through the PowerPoint. Once we get to the slide with the 3 facts, we stop and write the facts one at a time. After we finish discussing/reviewing the facts, I allow them to draw a picture of their favorite animal for that group.
I teach Kindergarten, therefore it is a lot of modeling, especially when it comes to the writing. If you teach an older grade, this could be an independent assignment/activity.
This is my favorite unit to teach! (Habitats and Animal Groups). My kids love this unit! And I think it's because they love seeing the pictures of the animals and their environment. I teach the "Habitat" unit first, so once we get to "Animal Groups" we review habitats by discussing where these animals live.
