Teachers: Kids love to ask the question “why”! Brainstorm with students some naturally occurring things that Native Americans might have wondered about. A few examples could be: Why a rabbit’s tail is short, why a deer’s tail is white, why a turkey gobbles. Record the topics on the board and have students pick one to write about.
Next, have them tear the edges of brown construction paper to make it look like animal hide. Have students write their final draft on the animal hide and have them add illustrations.
