This is a sorting and matching game to go along with your animal home and habitat unit.
I use this as a literacy center during the first 6 weeks of school, as they get into the routine of centers and guided reading and are expanding their knowledge around homes and habitats.
But, you could also make several sets and have students do it as a buddy sort and match game.
It just needs to be color printed and, ideally, laminated for durability and continued use.
It is a great way to introduce students to these concepts and set the stage for the rest of the unit.
It is also high-success, which is just what you need to start your year!
Finally, it is directly aligned to CCSS in vocabulary and aligns to Scott Foresman Reading Street, First Grade Unit 1, Animals Tame and Wild.
