Do your students want to learn more about animal intelligence? This resource contains four informational reading passages about the intelligence of crows, pigs, octopuses, and elephants. There are QR code cards with direct links to a YouTube about each animal. There is also a recording sheet on which students can document evidence of the intelligence of the animal they are learning about.

3-LS4 Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity
4-LS1 From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
Standard: 4LS1-2 Use a model to describe that animals receive
different information through their senses, process this information in
their brain, and respond to the information in different ways
The passages were written with third and fourth graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and would be useful for upper grades as well. Some passages are shorter than others and have less complex language so that you can easily differentiate for students.
