Animal masks created for the art teacher on a tight budget using basic materials. This lesson combines literacy/reading standards with elements of art: shape, form, color. Inspired by "Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear?" This lesson is for lower elementary grades: k-2nd. The PDF has 12 pages total and provides templates. This lesson has been differentiated for your advanced art students, I provide the circle shape and students can add whatever parts of the animal face the would like to add.
NOTE: The template for 9" paper plate make sure to print fit to size, so you don't have any of the template cut off.
Materials used in the lesson are paper plates, scissors, glue, construction paper, markers, and crayons. I provided templates for 9" and 6" round paper plates. I buy the paper plates from the local grocery store.
