Animal Movement Cards with Laban Efforts


Description
Movements cards to get the imagination flowing while using specific Laban efforts. Great for brain breaks and focused movement. Opposites like high/low, bound/loose, smooth/bumpy can be used for stationary or locomotor movements, seated or standing. 24 color cards, 24 low-ink B&W cards with no background.
Suggestions for Use:
- Put on your favorite freeze dance music and ask students to freeze in the animal shape represented on the displayed card.
- Display a card and ask students to dance/move in a way that matches the animal movement on the card.
- Display 2 cards and ask students to dance/move in a way that represents one animal card, then freeze in a position that represents the other animal card.
- Play music with contrasting sections. Display 2 cards and ask students to change their movements based on the changing music.
- Play music with contrasting sections. Display 2 cards and ask students to choose one for locomotor movement and one for stationary movement. For example, using the rabbit/elephant cards, perhaps students would walk with heavy footsteps then lightly hop in place.
