Product Description

This product was inspired by my Kindergarten students' ever-growing inquiry on animals. They've been asking where they live, what they eat, what other animals they are related to, about their babies, and other facts. They started by making zoos with blocks, then we projected PebbleGo and put a world map down on the carpet and they put the plastic animals where they belonged, and it eventually led to making research booklets.

I put these out with a few iPads at a table, crayons, a globe, and some pencils. Students enjoyed using PebbleGo to research animals, copy facts and key words (and their own knowledge), check out videos, and look at the map to see their range (and colour their own maps in their booklets). All animals in this product can be found on PebbleGo.

I taught my students how to copy (type) the animal name from the booklet in PebbleGo's search bar - many were independent very quickly. Don't have a PebbleGo account? Check to see if your local library has a subscription! You could also use any website or book that teaches students about animals (and preferably includes maps of their range).

Each animal in the booklet covers 2 pages: a full-page map and a blank space for students to write/dictate or draw (or glue in) what they've learned. The blank side includes the animal name and a clipart picture (great for early and non-readers to self-check and make sure they're on the correct page!).

You can pick-and choose which pages you want or print it in its entirety. I created different booklets for each biome. Included biomes are: wetland, forest, polar regions, savanna/grassland, rainforest, desert, and ocean. The booklets are designed to be photocopied double-sided (remember to choose "fit to page"), cut in half, and stapled. Therefore, each set printed will create 2 booklets.

Don't see an animal your students are obsessed with? "Ask A Question" with the animal name and I'll do my best to grab some clipart and update the product!

Thanks for checking out my products! Please be sure to leave some feedback on your purchases. Did you know you earn product credit when you leave feedback? WIN-WIN!
