Students love learning about the fascinating world of animals! I use this graphic organizer and flip book to help my 3rd graders gather and present in-depth research on one specific animal.
Step 1: Graphic Organizer
Students research using books and the internet and compile their findings in an easy-to-use graphic organizer. Information is divided into the following topics:
~ Appearance ~ Communication
~ Diet & Hunting ~ Movement
~ Habitat ~ Interaction w/ People
~ Life Cycle ~ Interesting Facts
Step 2: Flipbook Final Copy
After revising and editing, students transfer their research into their final copy flipbook. After they are finished writing, they cut out each box and arrange them from smallest on top to largest on the bottom. They can either glue or staple the flipbook together and glue it onto a piece of construction paper underneath their title box w/ picture.
NOTE: I have included 2 options for title pages on the graphic organizer. I teach at a Christian school, so I included the Bible-based page that I use. I've also included a secular option for those who teach at public schools.
I hope your students love this project as much as mine do!
