The animals at the zoo have learned how to text! They want to invite your students to be Animal Detectives on an Inference Mission. Your students must read the text messages on the phones and infer which zoo animal sent it.
They must pay careful attention to the clues in each text message that tell about that animal's special creature feature. After they have discussed and inferred each text, they will open the TOP SECRET Animal Selfies envelope and look at the selfies each animal took.
After completing the mission, students will earn an Inference Expert badge.
Included in the packet are:
*Let's Be Animal Detectives teacher script for how to introduce the activity

This activity begins whole group with you talking about what strange things have been happening at the zoo. You'll explain to your students that you are about to be Animal Detectives with several tasks to complete.
The text messages on the phones are great for teaching students to use their schema and clues to infer which zoo animal sent it. When the Animal Selfies envelope is opened, the class will discuss each animal's special creature feature shown and how that feature helps that animal.
Your students will love this engaging activity and all of the fun discussions you'll have.
