Objectives covered...

Classify animals as mammals. reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, or arthropods.

Discuss and identify the types of animal eaters-carnivore, herbivore, omnivores.

Identify sunlight as the primary source of energy plants use to produce their own food.

Classify populations of organisms as producers or consumers by the role they serve in the ecosystem.

Sequence the flow of energy through a food chain beginning with the Sun.

Predict the possible effects of removing an organism from a food chain.

What's Included?

Technology enhanced: Most lessons include a youtube video link as a quick intro or as a follow up to your lesson. While these videos are very engaging and add a real world glimpse into animals, they are not necessary to complete the lesson or the Interactive Animal Notebook pages. Some lessons also include links to interactive games that can be projected for the entire class or can be played independently in a computer lab. Again, I tried to provide enough resources that the technology component is JUST A BONUS and is not necessary.

Interactive Notebook: This unit includes 14 Interactive Notebook pages that are designed to be cutout and glued into a spiral or composition notebook. I recommend using liquid glue and showing students how to use a small amount around the borders of the page.
