Animals: Detective Dana and the Case of What Animal is That? Cut and Paste ---

In this 7 page pack, students will help Detective Dana solve the Case of What Animal is That. Each page includes three clues/phrases for two different animals. Students are to read the three short clues/phrases for each animal and decide which animal is described. The entire pack includes clues for fourteen different animals (two per page). After students decide which animal is described by the clues/phrases, they cut and glue the picture of the correct animal in the space provided under the clues. Pictures of four different animals are shown at the bottom of each page for the choices. Two of the pictures will not be used because they do not fit the clues.

If time does not permit students to cut and paste, students may simply write the answer to the clues/phrases in the boxes provided after viewing the four answer choices.

The 7 pages are shown in the preview.

Clues are provided for the following 14 animals: monkey, kangaroo, seal, zebra, alligator, giraffe, rhino, koala, panda, tiger, elephant, polar bear, lion, and penguin.

There are many uses for these animal clues/phrases. They can be used in a kindergarten class with the teacher reading the clues/phrases and having the students cut and paste the correct answer. They can also be used for independent reading practice in first or second grade by letting students read the clues/phrases and cut and glue the correct answer for each clue.

These animal clues are great for guided reading groups, homework, a mini lesson, or literacy center activities.

**When finished, students could add more clues about each animal after reading nonfiction books on each animal. Students could also write their own clues about other animals after reading books about other animals.
