Integrate science and reading while building comprehension in grades 3-5 using these 7 sets of short nonfiction passages and questions. The format is one paragraph of informational text and 4 questions on one page. All the passages are about animals, animal adaptations, and similar animals that are compared and contrasted. The questions cover a variety of reading skills and are modeled after the types of questions on standardized reading tests. Great for homework, for interventions, and for test prep! Kids LOVE these passages!
The majority of the reading levels measure in the 4th-5th grade range. Check the previews to get an idea of the format and level of difficulty of the texts. These passages could be used with 3rd graders with lots of teacher guidance. Some 4th grade teachers might need to do these orally with their students while modeling good reading strategies. Most 5th graders who are already familiar with this type of testing format should be able to complete these independently. Purchase with confidence, as I have 32 years of experience in preparing students for standardized reading testing and in studying these types of tests.
Many passages have fun titles! As an added critical thinking BONUS, have students explain why they think the title of each reading passage was chosen.
I’d appreciate your purchase, your rating, and your feedback.
