This activity is expert groups research on behaviors that increase the odds of survival for species. The class is divided into six categories of animal and plant behavior: flowering plants, camouflage, herding, defending territory, caring for young and mating rituals. Each groups does online research with the provided links and fills out a research sheet, and then they get the chance to learn from other classmates about the other behaviors through a gallery walk. The links are a mixture of videos and articles to benefit multiple learning styles. You can randomly groups students with numbers on the tops of their pages as they enter the classroom, or put the students in readiness levels depending on the difficulty of the topic. The activity is flexible to meet the needs of your classroom.
