Animals and Their Land Habitats is a comprehensive SmartBoard Notebook presentation of the second grade science text covering animal land habitats. The presentation includes habitat vocabulary, detailed descriptions of woodland forest, rain forest, desert, and Arctic habitats. There are 3 SmartBoard activities to check for understanding (putting seasons in order in the woodland forest, matching four animals to their correct habitats, and a short writing assignment as to why polar bears fur is helpful for their habitat). The 3 activities are also converted to a white background so they may be printed and completed as classwork or homework. The presentation correlates with the second grade Virginia Science Standards of Learning.
2.4 The student will investigate and understand that plants and animals undergo a series of orderly changes in their life cycles. Key concepts include
a) some animals (frogs and butterflies) undergo distinct stages during their lives, while others
generally resemble their parents; and
b) flowering plants undergo many changes, from the formation of the flower to the development
of the fruit.
