Animals and Their Water Habitats is a comprehensive SmartBoard Notebook presentation of the second grade science text covering animal water habitats. The presentation includes water habitat vocabulary, detailed descriptions of pond, stream, and ocean habitats. There are 3 SmartBoard activities to check for understanding (an ocean food web activity, identifying salt vs. fresh water animals, and a short writing assignment explaining the differences between pond and ocean habitats). The 3 activities are also converted to a white background so they may be printed and completed as classwork or homework. The presentation correlates with the second grade Virginia Science Standards of Learning.
2.4 The student will investigate and understand that plants and animals undergo a series of orderly changes in their life cycles. Key concepts include
a) some animals (frogs and butterflies) undergo distinct stages during their lives, while others
generally resemble their parents; and
b) flowering plants undergo many changes, from the formation of the flower to the development of the fruit.
