This fantastic primary source letter was written by Anne Boleyn to her husband, King Henry VIII from the Tower of London after her arrest in 1536.
In the letter, Queen Anne makes an impassioned plea for mercy, a for a fair trial, and insists on her innocence. Or course, in the end she was found guilty of high treason and executed so that King Henry VIII could find a new wife and the son he was desperate for.
This primary source worksheet makes for a wonderful reading for your World History, English, or social studies students. The reading level is just challenging enough and sheds a human light on a very dramatic moment in history.
Following the letter is a worksheet of 7 reading comprehension questions of varying complexity. The last 2 allow for students to interpret the events for themselves and give their opinions.An answer key is included for your convenience as well.
