What if Anne Frank had a cell phone? Students will ask themselves this question and design a cell phone custom made for Anne. Fourteen activity cards ask them to choose images, apps, music, memes, pics and more based on what they know of Anne's personality. I designed this activity to help students connect to Anne in a modern way. Imagining her as a teen with a phone resonates with students as they approach the end of her story, making her tragic fate all the more poignant. I have bundled this lesson into 3 different formats in order to give you a choice of how best to utilize it in your classroom:
14 Activity Cards in jpg format
Cards inserted into PPT for easy printing 4 to a page
Cards in PDF file, combined into a single assignment
These cards cover the following phone apps: Snap Chat, Google Maps, Instagram, Calendar, Texts, Camera, Notes, YouTube, Twitter, Music, Games, News and General Phone Settings
Ideally, students should use their phones as a reference tool for these activities, however it is not necessary. Everything is print/paper friendly- no technology required.
