Studying about the Holocaust and brave Jews like Anne Frank? Doing a unit on character traits and need a creative way to assess it? This project is perfect for you! This analyzes the bravery of young Anne Frank during the Holocaust. Some background knowledge will have to be provided about the young girl, but when it is, students will LOVE completing this set of activities. First, students assess Anne Frank's character traits. Then, they can work individually, in pairs, or in teams to give Anne Frank an award based on one of her traits. Students name the award and design it. There is a lot of flexibility for differentiation here! After the award is created and designed, students present the award in front of the class and can use the provided script to do so. The final aspect is a peer evaluation of the project that POSITIVELY assesses the awards. Students gain a broader knowledge of history, character traits, empathy, and evaluation through the completion of this wonderful project!
