This is an excellent activity to use during a Holocaust Unit and the study of Anne Frank. Anne had to deal with many challenges and difficulties while hiding out in the Annex with her family and friends. Along with being one of the youngest, and being very innocent, she was the victim of negative comments and unfair abuse by some of her own family members.
This activity allows for students to create a NAME POEM to point out some of the many positive qualities of Anne Frank or about the actual student. Anne became a very strong character in The Diary of Anne Frank, and her positive attitude and care and respect for others allowed for some peace and a sense of calming during a very difficult and challenging time during the Holocaust.
Students can choose to use Anne's name or their own name and to write a short descriptive phrase, using each beginning letter of the particular name.
This is very similar to an acrostic poem.
