In 8th grade, our students read the play of Anne Frank's diary. Many of the students have heard of the Holocaust, but they have limited and sometimes incorrect information about the event. This presentation help clarify Anne and the role she plays in the larger event.
This presentation occurs just before or just after we've started reading the play. (I have already given the students some background knowledge on the Holocaust.) The slides detail the Annex in terms of the following categories: Country: Belgium, City: Amsterdam, Outside the Annex, Inside the Annex, Anne and the basics of her life. Almost all images and information came from the Anne Frank House, which has a fantastic online tour. I don't have reliable internet in my classroom, so I use this presentation during the week, and take the kids to the computer lab on a Friday to let them explore the online tour.
