A standardized rubric for use by students who are conducting close-reading annotations of texts. Rubric can be used for fiction or nonfiction works. Designed to be either 20 or 10 points, depending on length of reading.
I've used this rubric with great success in multiple levels of high school English. I recommend distributing it and going over it as early as possible, then using it as a reference for annotation assignments throughout the year. It has some language tied to rhetoric/nonfiction, but is still flexible for any high-level students and texts.
