This product helps structure students' first time when annotating a text. It is a four-part rubric which focuses on:
-Figurative Language identification and understanding
-Connections, Predictions, and Interaction with text.
-Identifying unknown knowledge or words
In my own teaching, my co-teacher and I introduced the rubric along with the student guide. We modeled annotation before beginning to gradually release responsibility--and the results have been extraordinary.
We structured the rubric to really push students--it takes strong, meaningful interaction with text to get a 20/20!
