It's that time of year--standardized test time! With the implementation of the new Common Core State Standards, many of our students will see constructed response questions on the new tests. So what is the best way to teach students how to answer these questions completely so that they earn the most points possible? Well, there are a number of answers to that question, but I have had great success with the RACE Strategy. This download is for a foldable I created to help my students learn and review this strategy. The RACE acronym can not only be applied to constructed response questions on standardized tests, but also to short answer questions on your teacher-made tests.
To use this foldable with your students, simply print it out and copy it front and back on colored paper (or white). Have the students do a hot dog fold and cut on the lines. They can then either glue the foldable into their notebooks (great if you use an interactive notebook approach) or hold punch them to add to their binders. Students then have a handy review tool when test time rolls around!
