Practice answering open ended questions while restating the question to write in complete sentences with these 1st grade reading comprehension passages and short answer constructed response questions! Students practice finding text evidence and writing in complete sentences while restating the question. These reading comprehension passages and short answer questions help build stamina for constructed response reading comprehension questions. It's the perfect building block for primary grades students to writing full constructed responses in later years.

I use these passages with my students to practice PQA (put the question in the answer) or TTQA (turn the question around) to practice restating the question.

This is also a great reading comprehension resource for ESL/ELL/ELD students as they practice using correct syntax in their responses. It's the perfect companion to your current reading comprehension work.

While this is written at a second grade level, this is also great practice for 3rd graders who need reinforcement in writing in complete sentences and referring back to the text for text evidence. The simple format of the text puts the focus on the written response practice.
