Product Description
Echoing the question is a technique that teaches children to repeat a portion of the question in their response. This helps them to generate complete sentences both verbally and in writing, which is a great skill for their reading comprehension work and writing work.

Why This Skill is Helpful:
-This process helps students collect their thoughts before adding the detail to their sentence
-It provides students with a routine for generating clear complete sentences
-It supports students with speech and language delays
-It helps with both reading comprehension responses and writing activities

Included In This Unit:
-Wall display for the steps students should take when responding to a question
-Individual bookmarks or desk plates with these steps (in color or black and white)
-Planning page for students to think about how they can implement these steps themselves
-Identifying the repeated portion of a response activities
-Identifying responses that echo back the question verse those that do not
-Identifying the correct answer to questions based on which ones are complete sentences
-Identifying the question based on the answer
-Practice writing sheets
-Verbal response cards for students to practice the skill orally. All of the prompts are personal so students of all academic abilities can answer them (ex: What is your name?)

This is great practice for students who are struggling with responding to questions. It is also very helpful in taking writing to the next level by giving students the tools necessary to write clear and complete sentences.
